| Bio: | This is an RP journal used for the game First Rise. I make no claim to the Harry Potter universe or the actor Gaspard Ulliel. Please don't sue. You won't get anything anyway. Name: James Potter Age: 18 Birthday: March 27, 1960 Current Residence: After graduating, he'll be living under his parents' roof with the intention of finding one of his own as soon as he and Lily marry. He also visits and stays with Sirius Black on a semi-regular basis. Current Occupation: As of his graduation from Hogwarts, a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Affiliation: Order of the Phoenix Schooling: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry 1971-1978 Family Blood status: Pureblood Parents: Joseph and Natalie Potter (no canon names given) Siblings: None. Other notable relatives: Ignotus Peverell, the original owner of the Invisibility Cloak. Pets: A grumpy owl that he's taken to calling Curmy (short for Curmudgeon). Magic Magical Skills Potions: Semi-decent. He made sure to try a bit harder in this class than the others because it appeared to be Lily Evans' favorite. Not that it did him any good in that respect. Charms: Excellent, as he was in most of the classes that almost purely involved wand-work. Transfiguration: Excellent, especially after he'd mastered the skills it took to be an Animagus. Despite her annoyance at his constant pranks and rule-breaking, McGonagall had always been impressed with his skills in Transfiguration. Ancient Runes: Poor. He never took the class, and probably would have doodled through it if he had. Arithmancy: Quite skilled, actually. He'd taken this to avoid Divination starting his third year, and it was a subject he was able to pick up fairly quickly. Defense Against the Dark Arts: Excellent. He was appalled by the Dark Arts from a young age, especially after meeting Sirius Black and hearing about his family, and so took special care to learn everything that could be taught to him. Once it was obvious that a war was going to break out, he became devoted to the subject. Divination: Abysmal. He firmly believes that most of the things studied in Divination are ludicrous, though he also believes that there are, sometimes (very few and far between), people that really do and can make prophecies. Magical Modes of Transportation Flying: Very skilled indeed. He was on the Gryffindor Quidditch team from his second year on, and has been hailed as one of the best players the school has ever seen. Especially by his housemates, for whom he's won many matches over the years. Apparation: He took the class as soon as he possibly could, caught on rather quickly, and has been abusing the ability ever since. Outside of Hogwarts, he hasn't walked up or down a set of stairs in quite a while. Magical Carpets: He's never seen one in person, but if he did, he'd think it to be great fun. Magical Oddities: Unregistered Animagus, owner of the Invisibility Cloak Deathly Hallow. Relationships Circle of friends: His best mate is Sirius Black, though their tight circle, who call themselves the "Marauders," also includes Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. He trusts the three of them more than he trusts anybody else. Enemies: Lord Voldemort, at the forefront, as well as all of his followers. He's had a rivalry with Severus Snape from the moment they met, and the other boy absolutely despises him, especially because Severus technically owes James a life debt. Work colleagues: All the members of the Order of the Phoenix: Edgar Bones, Caradoc Dearborn, Benjy Fenwick, Frank and Alice Longbottom, Marlene McKinnon, Dorcas Meadows, Peter Pettigrew, Gideon and Fabian Prewett, Sirius Black, Lily Evans, etc. Romantic Relationships: Has been with Lily Evans for a good part of his last year at Hogwarts, though he fancied her for quite a while before that. Sexual Orientation: Straight History: James was born in 1960 to two older parents who'd waited quite a while before deciding to have a child. This fact meant that James was basically their absolute treasure, and was spoiled accordingly. Almost no whim was denied to him, and he liked it that way. When he started at Hogwarts, something happened that surprised him deeply. First, he met a boy by the name of Severus Snape, and the dislike between the two of them blossomed almost immediately. James, who'd always been friends with most of the kids he'd met before, was so shocked my this immediate hatred for the other boy, that he perhaps took it to a level beyond what was strictly necessary, picking on him mercilessly and giving him the nickname "Snivellus." At the same time, however, James met three boys that he took to very quickly. Sirius Black was the first, and quickly became James' best mate in the entire world. They shared a love of trickery and laughter, as well as a hatred of all things dark, which, to them, included the Dark Arts-obsessed Severus. Also, he went on to meet Remus Lupin, quite different from the other two in that he enjoyed his schoolwork and was less-inclined toward troublemaking, but who was inducted perhaps on the principle that they needed someone around to balance them out. Finally, there was Peter, who adored James and Sirius. He believed them to be capable of anything, especially once James made Gryffindor Chaser in his second year, and they enjoyed being adored. Plus, the smaller, shyer boy was a good scapegoat should the need have arisen. Early in their Hogwarts schooling, James, Sirius, and Peter became suspicious of their friend Remus, who would disappear for a few nights every several weeks. When they questioned him about it, he reluctantly, and with their sworn silence, told them that he was a werewolf. The three boys went on to research ways to help their afflicted best mate, and in their fifth year, they master the art of being Animagi. James went on to earn the nickname "Prongs," because his Animagus form was a stag. Towards the end of his fourth year, James began to fall for a girl in his house and year named Lily Evans. The problem was, her best mate was James' enemy, Severus Snape. Therefore, for about the first year of his crush, she was at best highly annoyed by him. However, once she discovered that what James and Sirius had been saying about Snivellus was true, she warmed up to them a bit more. During their seventh year, she finally gave in to giving him a real chance, and eventually agreed to go on a date with him. They're still dating. Now, with his Hogwarts career at a close, he plans to devote all of his time to helping the Order of the Phoenix in the war against Voldemort and his followers. With his parents' money, he sees no need to find a real, paying job, but figures that he may, eventually, try to become an Auror once the war is over and the good guys have officially won. Character's Strengths and Weaknesses: James' strengths include his skills in flying, as well as in the subjects of Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts. When he picks a subject that he is passionate about, he focuses all of his energy on it, and more often than not succeeds to the highest degrees possible. His passion is one of his greatest strengths, and now his passion is focused on two things: defeating Voldemort and staying with Lily. Also, he has all the characteristics of a true Gryffindor, including insane amounts of bravery in the face of danger and extreme loyalty to those he cares about. His greatest weakness is probably his pride. There are very few people to whom he will admit that he is wrong, Dumbledore and Lily among them. He likes to believe that he knows best in most situations, and is stubborn to a fault when he thinks that people believe someone else over himself. Also, his pride comes attached to his loyalty and bravery. If it came down to it, even in the face of imminent death, there's no way he would back down or run if Lily or one of his mates was in trouble. | |||||||||
